William P. GOBIN, one of the most prominent of the older residents of the city died at 9:25 o'clock Monday night at his home 107 S. Walnut Street. Heart trouble and dropsy with which he had been seriously ill for 14 weeks, caused his death. He had been in failing health for three years.

He was born on May 20, 1849 in this county the son of Jesse J. and Arminta Plunkett Gobin. 20 years ago he was married to Mrs. James McClue., who survives him.

Mr. Gobin was an old school Baptist and was widely respected for his honesty, sincerity and deep devotioin to his family and friends. A daughter, Mrs. Jesse Lee Pitman preceded him in death last summer.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Thomas Endean of near this city; two brothers, JL Gobin of Urbanan, Ill and MV Gobin of Danville, Ill; two grandsons, Edward and Paul Endean; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The Rev. CL Airhart, assisted by the Rev. Guy O. Carpenter, will have charge of funeral services, the time of which has not been decided - transcribed by kbz
